  Lowden Forest Park is located 1km south of Lowden Road in the Tallaganda State Forest, between Captain's Flat and Braidwood, NSW. For visitors approaching from Canberra, turn east off the Captain's Flat road onto Hoskinstown Road, which then becomes Rossi Road, which in turn becomes Lowden Road. The turnoff to Lowden Forest Park is well sign-posted (the second road to the right after Dead Cow Road). Lowden Forest Park has a picnic area and a free small campground. There are two pit toilets and a number of roofed picnic tables. Campfires are permitted as long as there are no fire bans in effect. There is no water available at the park, other than from Lowden Creek (if it is flowing). Two short (20 minute) loop trails depart from the picnic area. The Hopkins Pond trail goes upstream along Lowden Creek, while the Fern Gully Walking Trail goes downstream along Lowden Creek. At the campground there is an old steam engine and other remnants of logging in the 1930s. There is also a reconstructed water wheel, which was used to generate electricity for the logging camp. The water supply to the water wheel appears to no longer be functioning, despite there being plenty of water in Lowden Creek on the day of my visit (November 2017).
